Honors Highlight - Simply Sustainable RESET Flooring in Asia

Sustainability is at the heart of Milliken’s work as a global manufacturer. As one of our corporate values, it’s easy to see how sustainability permeates all facets of our work—from informing the products and innovations we develop to shaping how we care for the communities we serve. Our 2025 Sustainability Goals reflect our holistic view of sustainability, as we set 12 goals to guide our people, product, and planet efforts. The Milliken Honors program would be incomplete without highlighting team members who make tremendous strides on our behalf as we work toward achieving these goals.

This year’s 2023 Milliken Product Goals Award recipient set out to make sustainability simple for our flooring customers.

The Simply Sustainable RESET Flooring team, based in the Asia Pacific region, knows the impact our flooring portfolio can make when used in interior spaces. Often, though, these sustainability benefits take time to relay to the customers, who are inundated with green messaging almost daily. How could we present the compelling sustainability story behind our flooring products in a way that both aligns with best practices and makes things easy to understand?

Using RESET Embodied, a new standard for calculating the environmental performance of building materials and products, Milliken could easily convey its product performance in three categories: Carbon, Circularity, and Health. This third-party program would assign a RESET Embodied score to verified products so customers can clearly understand the ecological footprint a material choice can have.

Lizzie Kang, Jade Liu, Joy Zhang, Mark Zhao, and Shi Qiu set out to certify Milliken’s WellBAC® Comfort range of flooring to RESET Embodied, and the lift spanned the company and the globe. WellBAC® Comfort is the foundational layer of our performance-driven carpet tiles. Collaborating across functional teams and international locations, Simply Sustainable RESET Flooring team worked for over a year to garner the certification. In May 2023, they happily announced the WellBAC® Comfort carpet backing ranked as the number one flooring product, according to the RESET scoring system.

RESET Embodied score is one more way Milliken is showcasing how our products can and do make a lasting positive impact. Congratulations, Simply Sustainable RESET Flooring team, and thank you for your efforts on behalf of our company and customers!
