Meet Benson Stone, Microprocessor Technician with an impressive 32-year tenure. Benson started his journey with Milliken right out of high school, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, making him a third-generation Milliken associate. His story is one of growth, family legacy, and a deep connection to the mission and values of Milliken.

A Legacy of Dedication: Three Generations at Milliken

Benson began his career at Milliken shortly after graduating from high school. Reflecting on his start, he shared, "My dad was working at the new plant in Hartwell at the time and pretty much told me, if you're not going to school, you're going to work. So, he encouraged me to come down and I did. I started my job just a few months after high school as a support operator." His career has spanned various roles within the company, showcasing his dedication and adaptability.

Opportunities and Growth

Over the years, Benson has experienced significant growth within Milliken. He emphasized that the company rewards those who show interest and initiative. "If you come in and show your interest, really step out and do your best, people see that and they reward you for it," he explained.

"Safety is paramount, and it's a critical aspect of training for new employees," he shared. Benson also discussed the importance of Milliken's products, such as airbag cloth and a textile used to reinforce residential shingles. These products contribute significantly to safety and protection, aligning with Milliken's mission to create innovative solutions that make a difference. "Milliken's products, like airbag cloth, play a crucial role in safety and protection," he emphasized.

A Lifelong Family Legacy

For Benson, Milliken is not just a place of employment; it’s a home. "It's been very important to me over the years, you know, just having a place to call home. I mean this is basically my home away from home. I laugh and tell people, ‘Basically, Milliken fed me every meal of my life.’ I mean, from the time my daddy was working when I was born, he worked for Milliken until I became an adult. And I went to work for Milliken." he reflected.

This deep connection to Milliken, spanning three generations, highlights the company's impact on his life and his gratitude for its support. “Milliken has basically taken care of me and my family, and I respect that, and I look forward to the years to come.”
