Milliken & Company Donates 250 Uniforms to Local Girl Scout Troops
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Milliken & Company’s textile business donated 250 uniforms to the Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands, the local council serving the community around Milliken’s global headquarters.
Milliken is the fabric manufacturer for new Girl Scout uniforms rolled out nationwide in 2024. In collaboration with Unifi, Milliken incorporated REPREVE fiber, made using recycled post-consumer plastic bottles, into the new uniforms to enhance their sustainability. The Girl Scout uniform fabric is made of 40% REPREVE fiber.
“Milliken is incredibly proud of our role in manufacturing high-quality fabrics made with sustainable materials for Girl Scout uniforms,” said Marcio Manique, SVP of Protective Fabrics for Milliken. “Donating uniforms made from Milliken textiles to our local Girl Scouts is an extension of our commitment to supporting the communities where our associates live and work. We’re honored to support these young leaders as they embark on their many adventures.”
— Marcio Manique, SVP of Protective Fabrics for Milliken
The company’s donation will provide 200 Daisy/Brownie uniforms and 50 Cadette/Junior/Senior uniforms to Girl Scouts in grades K-10.
“As one of the top five councils for membership growth last year, GSSC-MM is making a difference in the lives of young women who actively serve our communities,” said Melanie Huggins, Chief Executive Officer for Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands. “Thanks to Milliken’s generous support, we can ensure that all girls, regardless of their families’ financial situation, can fully participate in Girl Scouts.”
