Purifying Recycled Polypropylene with PureCycle
Sustainable solutions in plastic recycling are urgently needed to help overcome the problems created by mismanaged plastic waste. In order to advance the closed-loop recycling of polypropylene resins, Milliken has partnered with PureCycle Technologies. Using their patented recycling technology, PureCycle restores polypropylene to an Ultra-Pure Recycled Resin. The PureCycle recycled polypropylene can be used in high value applications again and again, as opposed to having to be downcycled PP to become truly circular. Milliken, a principal technology partner, is aiding this effort with its resources and thrilled with the announced expansions in the United States and Korea.
Mike Otworth, Co-Founder and Chairman of PureCycle's Board of Directors |
Mike Otworth, Co-Founder and Chairman of PureCycle's Board of Directors notes, “Polypropylene is one of the most used common plastics on the world and yet, it is one of the least recycled. That changes with PureCycle and our collaboration with Milliken. Milliken’s active commitment to transforming how products are made ensures that the consumer sees no marked difference in quality. This is a game changer in the fight to end plastic waste pollution. Brands can deliver sustainable products without sacrificing quality. It’s the differentiator we need globally to tackle plastic waste."
