Women in Textiles

U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai met with women leaders in the U.S. textile industry at a Women in Textiles Roundtable held at our Magnolia Plant.

Ambassador Katherine Tai is the principal trade advisor, negotiator and spokesperson on U.S. trade policy in President Biden's Cabinet. Her visit was the first-ever visit of an Ambassador to a Milliken facility. The Ambassador’s visit included a tour of our Magnolia plant in Blacksburg, S.C., and a roundtable discussion highlighting the important role women contribute to textiles.

Along with learning more about the facility, its products and processes, Ambassador Tai had the opportunity to connect with a panel of female associates to hear about their experiences in the textile industry and gain insights about the opportunities for equality of women in manufacturing.

Ambassador Tai She directly influences trade policies and showed an interest in touring a manufacturing facility to better understand its processes, technological advancements in the industry and the future of textiles. Ambassador Tai is an experienced World Trade Organization (WTO) litigator and fluent in Mandarin, previously serving as the Chief Counsel for China Trade Enforcement. Ambassador Tai's visit was facilitated by our associates and the National Council of Textile Organizations.
