Engaging in Local Clean Energy Opportunities
Milliken's Global Sustainability Manager Josh Riggs spoke on a panel addressing the industrial decarbonization of Appalachia.
In March 2023 Milliken co-sponsored the Appalachian Carbon Forum, hosted by Oak Ridge National Lab, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The forum kicked off a multi-year series of meetings to bring together a diverse range of leaders to identify and develop energy solutions for the US Appalachian region.
Milliken's Global Sustainability Manager Josh Riggs spoke on a panel addressing the industrial decarbonization of Appalachia. “Advancing decarbonization is enabling Milliken to compete in a carbon-centric economy," Josh told the audience. Panelists discussed the barriers and opportunities facing the industry as they develop strategies and goals to transition to clean energy solutions and reduce carbon emissions, including potential impacts on job creation and other economic and environmental benefits.

To achieve a clean energy transition, we know that we must engage all stakeholders. At Milliken, we will continue to focus on local solutions and local impact, in order to advance the energy transition in a responsible and sustainable way.
