Today, we highlight Angelica Bowlds , an Advanced Machine Operator at our Dewey Plant, whose attention to detail and excellent quality control ensure we deliver high-performance products to our customers.

Angelica Bowlds serves as an Advanced Machine Operator, a role that is pivotal in maintaining the high standards Milliken is known for. The lab acts as a critical gatekeeper, ensuring that only top-quality products reach our customers. Angelica's dedication and strong analytical skills consistently identify and rectify potential issues before they escalate.

From Medical Labs to Manufacturing Excellence

Angelica joined Milliken almost two years ago, bringing with her a background in medical laboratory science. "I've always wanted to work in a lab. It's what I'm used to and passionate about," she shares. Despite transitioning from the medical field, Angelica found that her skills were highly transferable and valuable in her new role. "The degree I have in medical lab science helped me develop the precision and attention to detail needed in quality control."

Day-to-Day Dedication

Angelica's day begins with reviewing any issues from the previous shift and ensuring all equipment is properly calibrated. Throughout the day, she runs various tests on products, adapting her tasks based on the production schedule. "We make different products, so my day can involve running tests on anything from AOX to DDSA," she explains.

Her ability to catch even the smallest discrepancies ensures that our products meet the stringent requirements of our clients. "It's important to pay attention to every detail and make sure everything we're sending out is of the best quality," says Angelica.

The Impact of Quality Control

Angelica's meticulous approach has a significant impact on the products we deliver. Her keen eye for detail and commitment to excellence have prevented potential issues, ensuring that our clients receive only the best. "All the products we send out have to meet specific qualifications. If they're not meeting them, customers are going to ask why," she notes.

Angelica's contributions have not gone unnoticed. Nominated by Monica Munoz, a Human Resource Manager at Dewey, her role as an Advanced Machine Operator is crucial in preventing off-quality products from reaching the customer. "Her attention to detail and excellent communication have prevented issues and ensured that high-quality products reach our customers globally."

Building Strong Work Relationships

Angelica values the teamwork and support she receives from her colleagues. "It's good to have experienced people to fall back on," she says. This camaraderie helps her navigate the challenges of the job and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Embracing Challenges and Opportunities

Working in quality control means facing new challenges every day. "I like that my work is challenging. You never know what you're going to do for the day, and it keeps you on your toes," Angelica remarks.

Her ability to adapt and problem-solve is a testament to her skill and dedication. "You don't ever know what you're going to do for the day in a way. You do the same thing, but you're not doing it the same way. You know, all of us, we have to think about what we do before we do it, be safe, and make sure you're plugging in the right number, make sure you're paying attention."
