Mike Friese is the Executive Director of Encapsys, acquired by Milliken in October 2021*, based in Wisconsin in the United States. Encapsys is a leader in microencapsulation which has applications across industries and helps companies achieve more sustainable products by advancing responsible consumption and the efficient delivery of active materials.

Tell us a bit about your role at Milliken, what does it involve?

With a background in R&D, my primary role at Milliken is to work with our team to help customers leverage encapsulation technology in ways that bring value. This involves ensuring we have a strategy for a robust technical program that delivers product superiority and value. I support the Encapsys leadership team as a member of the senior leadership staff, frequently working with our operations and functional support teams to ensure we have the infrastructure needed to serve and improve our customer relationship.

What do you like most about your position? What excites you about it?

Our customer partnerships have provided a continuous stream of opportunities that deliver innovation, performance, sustainability, and value for end users. We get to combine the outstanding talents from joint partnership teams to deliver solutions to the market and win together. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of encapsulation technology and moving the commercial partnership forward. Looking forward to new innovation challenges, and opportunities to grow, makes it exciting to go to work each day.

What is your favorite company memory?

My favorite recent experience has been taking part in the integration of Encapsys into Milliken. It has all felt so natural. Our values, customers, markets, and strengths combine to make something truly aligned and stronger together. I feel like we are already part of the same family, and I am excited about what we can do together.
