Q & A Interview
Tell us a bit about your role at Milliken, what does it involve?
At Milliken, my role focuses on performing experiments to develop new products and support customer products.
What are the main ways you can help Milliken’s customers?
The main way that I help Milliken’s customers is to provide them with answers to scientific questions so they can make key business decisions.
Do you cover a particular region or have local technical knowledge that helps Milliken’s customers?
I work for customers in the North American Region, and research and development globally. My expert knowledge of Milliken’s products helps customers by performing best-in-class material science experimentation to deliver answers to their critical technical questions.
What does a typical week look like for you?
In a typical week, I perform experiments and generate data by running injection molders and extrusion machinery. I am the regional expert in color chemistry in support of the KeyPlast and ClearTint product lines.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is being a part of experiments that make a difference by enabling the development of great products. What I also like about my position is teamwork. Coming to work is like coming to a family gathering. We work hard together but have fun. I get excited about providing customers with top-quality work and then seeing products on the shelves of stores that I had an opportunity to help create.
Do you have a particular customer success story or a highlight that you are proud of?
I’m very proud of contributing to the work that has helped PureCycle start up their recycling plant, by providing them answers to their product formulas.
What is your favorite Milliken memory?
On Veterans Day, while I was working at the Magnolia Finishing Plant, walking in I saw my picture, and those of other veterans, posted along the walkway. It meant a lot to be acknowledged in that manner.
What’s one piece of advice you have for someone looking for a job or internship at Milliken?
Do some research on the company because you will discover that Milliken makes a wide variety of products, and come in with an open mind. Milliken is a family company that, in turn, treats its employees like family. This is a company in which you can have a career with longevity.
