Milliken Concludes Latest Regional Plastics Symposium
Industry players gather to discuss winning ideas to advance polyolefin production

Bangkok, Thailand — At the conclusion of Milliken’s annual Asia Polyolefin Symposium, more than 150 attendees left with a renewed sense of vision for the region’s plastics industry. Downstream and upstream players, along with nonprofit organizations, government entities, brand owners, producers, and recyclers, came together 5-6 September to explore market trends and innovation, sustainable development constructs and regional insights that are shaping Asia’s polyolefin value chain.
“This year’s event—named Thriving Together: Sustainable Collaboration for Success—emphasizes the influence the value chain can have if we work together,” remarked Dr. Zhaolin Zhou, Vice President and General Manager for Milliken’s Chemical Business in Asia. “Milliken, with our technical development abilities and our vested interest in a more sustainable future for plastics, is uniquely positioned to convene industry players and facilitate far-reaching discussions that set our industry up for success.”
This symposium is one of the few regional insights gathering bolstering the entire plastics value chain. The event gave significant attention to market trends in the region, with detailed insights into the Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia markets. By inviting a spectrum of participants, Milliken and event attendees fostered collaborative conversations to address sustainability challenges and leverage new growth technologies. Priority initiatives included adopting circular economy practices, advancing recycling technologies, and innovating packaging outputs and manufacturing processes to reduce environmental impact.
"We found tremendous value in this collaborative symposium,” added Arnel L. Santos, CEO of JG Summit Olefins Corporation. “As a resin producer, our work within the plastics value chain is enhanced when we keep the big picture in mind. We expect the conversations had here will continue to influence our industry for the better in the years to come.”
“Bringing this group of industry stakeholders together translates to tangible value for the entire value chain,” concluded Vincent Wang, Commercial Director for Milliken’s Chemical Business in South Asia. “We’re pleased to play the role of facilitator as we all work together to support a sustainable future for plastics.”
