About Us
How We Got Here
At Milliken Transportation, we pride ourselves on a rich history of exceptional service and innovation in the logistics and trucking industry. Since our inception in 1945, we have continuously evolved to meet the dynamic needs of our clients, particularly in the B2B manufacturing sector across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
1945
Fleet Operations Begin R.C. Edwards launched our journey with two Army surplus tractors and one trailer, servicing three mills in Abbeville. This marked the start of our commitment to reliable and efficient transportation solutions.
1946 - 1949
Expansion and Growth We expanded our fleet to include more tractors, serving additional mills and supporting the fuel oil distribution for Dristol Corporation. By 1949, we had integrated DM Trucking into our operations, further broadening our service capabilities.
1963 - 1970
Strategic Mergers and Fleet Enhancements The creation of Amerotron Trucking and Warehouse and the subsequent mergers with DM Trucking and Pacolet Trucking in 1967 strengthened our operational efficiency. By 1970, we officially became Milliken Transportation, incorporating assets from DM Trucking, Piedmont Motor Lines, and Ameroton.
1980's - 1990's
Technological Advancements and Safety Milestones Pioneering industry-first technologies like the FAST system for shipment tracking and achieving significant safety awards underscored our dedication to innovation and excellence. By introducing high cube trailers and achieving impressive safety milestones, we set new industry standards.
2000 - Present
Modern Innovations and Strategic Moves From achieving the VPP certification to transigtioning to a leased tractor fleet model and implementing advanced trailer tracking systems, we have continually refined our operations to provide top-tier service. Our focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability remains unwavering.
