Diversity Equity and Inclusion
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION
EMPOWERING EXCEPTIONAL TEAMS
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than just hot topics or buzz words. At Milliken, we strive to foster a culture where every associate is valued, respected, engaged, and has a sense of belonging. We define diversity as welcoming all people and inclusion as valuing and embracing their differences and perspectives.
EDUCATION
We actively work to expand our cultural understanding of diversity and inclusion and provide various educational workshops to reinforce our long-term success, including: Unconscious Bias Training, Allyship and Inclusion in Action. Each session provides vital information about the impact of biases and micro-aggressions, ways to commit to allyship in and out of Milliken, and how to build a culture of inclusion.
OUR JOURNEY
Milliken's DEI journey began in 2017 with the creation of a formal program and the establishment of the Diversity and Inclusion Council, which brought together diverse voices from across the organization. Since then, Milliken has dedicated significant time and effort to upholding and improving our DEI programs because we truly believe that embracing differences and including others with different perspectives makes us stronger.
CEO ACTION PLEDGE
In 2019, our CEO, Halsey Cook, signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ Pledge, reaffirming our commitment to fostering a workplace that values and promotes diversity and inclusion. By joining this initiative, we pledged to:
Foster Safe Spaces: Create an environment where employees feel empowered to engage in courageous and meaningful conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Address Unconscious Bias: Educate our workforce on unconscious bias and facilitate ongoing conversations to promote understanding and empathy.
Share Insights Openly: Collaborate with other organizations by sharing both successful and unsuccessful practices to drive collective progress.
Strategic Accountability: Develop and present actionable inclusion and diversity strategies to our Board, ensuring accountability and alignment with our values.
This pledge is a cornerstone of our ongoing efforts to build a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and heard.
Wherever you're from, whatever race or ethnicity you are, however you identify, whoever your partner is, we want you to be able to come and find home at Milliken.
