Meet Our 2023 Scholarship Recipients
Auteur : Mary Kate Griffin
The Milliken & Company Charitable Foundation is proud to award 11 academic scholarships supporting students who are dependents of current Milliken associates — seven from the United States, two from Europe, and two from Asia — striving for excellence in academics, school and community participation, and special honors.
Among these students is Eleanor Bowie, currently studying at the University of Sheffield in Sheffield, England.
“After university, I plan to gain a postgraduate certificate of education which will allow me to teach my passion for the social sciences to high-school students. I have always wanted to share my knowledge of the social sciences and hopefully inspire the next generation of students,” Bowie wrote. “This scholarship will allow me to continue with my career goals and give back to other future students.”
Because he received a Milliken scholarship, Ethan Babb is able to pursue research at his top choice Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
“I want to be a leader, to make a difference and to serve in different communities,” Babb said. “I have faith that this scholarship will help me move forward in my studies and will make a difference in my life, so that I can give back and make a difference in this world.”
In addition to awarding 11 scholarships this year, the program currently supports all 12 renewable scholarships from its inaugural recipients, a testament to the program’s growth. The goal is to award $200,000 in annual school scholarships by 2025.
