Milliken and Company Limestone Facility Earns South Carolina OSHA VPP Certification

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Diversified global manufacturer Milliken & Company announced that its Limestone facility in Gaffney, South Carolina has been certified in the state’s OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). The certification recognizes employers and their associates who implement effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below state averages for their respective industries.

“The safety and health of all associates is of primary importance to Milliken,” said Halsey Cook, President and CEO of Milliken & Company. “We believe that all injuries are preventable, all risks are controllable, and management is accountable.”

The Limestone facility successfully completed a rigorous certification process over multiple years and is the first Milliken-acquired site to receive this recognition. Milliken hosted a VPP signing ceremony on February 19 at the facility, which featured remarks from South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette and Director of South Carolina Labor, Licensing and Regulation Emily Farr.

“Milliken is a jewel in the crown of South Carolina, and its associates are one of the company's greatest assets,” said Lieutenant Governor Evette. “Congratulations to the Limestone team for their collective effort in building a world-class operation that cares about the safety of its people.”

VPP-certified locations demonstrate management's commitment to safety, assess hazards that may be present within the workplace, maintain a system for hazard correction and control, provide employees safety and health training, and assure employee participation in safety and health programs. Certified sites are not expected to be perfect, but they are expected to effectively protect their workers from the hazards of the workplace through their safety and health systems.
