Key Circularity Concepts

Each year, we use more and more materials, and most of it ends up as pollution in the environment. To change that we need to move toward a circular economy, where products are designed differently, resources are viewed differently, and we shift towards a reuse mindset. Early in 2020 and prior to the shutdowns caused by COVID-19, National Geographic convened thought leaders in a forum sponsored by Milliken, Waste Management and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to explore solutions to advance circularity.

Key concepts learned from the National Geographic Economy Forum sponsored by Milliken with Waste Management and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation:

  1. The circular economy is bigger than you think
  2. For business, green is good
  3. Cities can lead the way
  4. Carbon needs to be a factor
  5. What you buy and recycle matters
